Tony Senatore: “Too Shy To Say” (A Tribute to Leona and Carla)

Our good friend Tony Senatore sent us this touching video, along with this note: “I wanted to share this with you. It is a tribute video to the wives of my two friends, Tom Semioli and Steve Swallow, who both passed away in 2023. I used the Wattplower II and my Ampeg B15. The engineer used some kind of chorus effect, which I loved. It took me back to 1978.”

The piece is Stevie Wonder’s “Too Shy To Say.”

Tony added this to the video description:

“Whether you took your wedding vows at City Hall before the mayor of your town at the Elvis Chapel in Las Vegas or on an altar before God, commitment is the commonality between these disparate scenarios. As we watch the tenets of Western civilization crumble before our eyes every day, it is inspiring to know that some people respect tradition. Tom Semioli and Steve Swallow are two individuals who cared for their wives in their darkest hours, through sickness and health, for richer or poorer, until death took them away. Tom and Steve were lucky to find amazing partners in Leona and Carla, but Leona and Carla were blessed to find such wonderful husbands. As my two friends move forward in their lives alone, I am hopeful that they will be able to transform the pain they have endured into great works of music and journalism in their own time and at their own pace. Moreover, I hope they will find peace with friends and family.”
