Bass of the Week: Anka Custom Basses Jarius 33″
This week, we’re checking out a custom Jarius bass from Anka Custom Guitars & Basses with a streamlined design. The 33-inch-scale bass pares things down from the standard Jarius design, which has a pair of single-coil pickups. Instead, it has a single Aero pickup with a switch to toggle between single- and dual-coil operation. It is otherwise wired directly to the output jack.
The body is made from mahogany, finished in high gloss gray metallic on its front but left natural on its back. Anka accented the colors with a red tortoise pickguard and binding. Its hard maple neck has an Indian rosewood fretboard with 21 frets marked by pearl dots and Luminlay side dots. Finally, the hardware includes a Gotoh bridge and Hipshot Ultralite tuners.
