Fender Introduces the Player II Lavender Haze Jazz Bass With CME “Full Dip” Pickups and Concentric Knobs
Fender has teamed up with Chicago Music Exchange and Andertons to introduce the Player II Lavender Haze collection, which puts the lineup into a colorway inspired by mid-century aesthetics. Aside from a new look, the Jazz Bass in the collection benefits from CME’s new proprietary “Full Dip” pickups.
“We worked with Fender to refine their Vintera II recipe using AlNiCo 2 magnets and 5% overwound coils,” Chicago Music Exchange explains. “This smooths out the harsh frequencies while adding a distinct mid-range grit.”
The bass pickups are unique in the line in that they are essentially split magnets. The E and A strings on each pickup have AlNiCo 5 magnets to retain a focused low end, while the D and A string magnets are the AlNiCo 2 magnets.
It’s also fitted with concentric stack knobs for independent volume and tone controls on each pickup. Fender shares that this unlocks more tonal options.
You can get the full rundown of the lineup in the CME release video, including a drilldown on the Jazz Bass at the 25:35 mark.
The Fender Player II Lavender Haze Jazz Bass will be shipping in late February for $979.99.
